ROGUE’S NEW CHAPTER ’25-’26

Dear Rogue Cheer Athletics Family,

I’m writing to you today with a heartfelt message about our journey and the path ahead for Rogue Cheer Athletics. The past month has undoubtedly been challenging, and I want to sincerely acknowledge the uncertainty and disruption it caused for many of our families.

Mid to late June marked a significant transition for our gym. While we resolved it quickly, it understandably led to confusion and disrupted our plans for establishing seven Rogue teams. I witnessed and experienced the frustration this situation brought, and my heart truly went out to every athlete and parent who felt caught in the midst of it all. As for the coaches who have moved on, they are now pursuing their own cheerleading program elsewhere in the valley. We genuinely wish them success in their new venture.

Unfortunately, just a few days before their departure and counter to their original desire to lead Rogue after my absence, they announced that Season 6 would be suspended. This was shortly followed by an announcement that they wished to dissolve Rogue. During this challenging time, in which many parents left thinking that Rogue was no more, I began to hear from families who encouraged me to consider returning to lead Rogue Cheer Athletics (rather than let it fade). After careful reflection, I decided to embark on a new chapter. As the founder of Rogue Cheer Athletics, established in 2020, I am back and ready to guide us forward. Nearly seeing my dream vanish was disheartening. Nevertheless, I am grateful for the opportunity to rebuild what has been my passion for many years.

We know some of you may have made other plans during that period of uncertainty and division, perhaps exploring other sports or activities. While we understand those choices, we want you to know that Rogue remains a place where you belong. If your path leads you back to cheer with us, or if you decide to return after trying joining other teams, we’ll be here to welcome you. We are dedicated to cultivating a community built on integrity, resilience, and a deep passion for competitive cheer because these values are essential for true growth and success, both on and off the mat.

Rogue’s Path Forward

Things will certainly look a bit different for Rogue as we move ahead, but I believe these changes will forge a stronger, more connected gym. We’ll remain in our familiar home on Stevens Street in Medford, and I’m incredibly grateful to our landlords for their understanding and support, working with us on a flexible monthly lease that’s obtainable for us right now. I will be thinking of creative and safe ways to monetize our space during down time (such as hosting events or classes from trusted fitness vendors) and encourage parents to reach out to me with their own ideas.

Recouping after having lost momentum and revenue during June will be a challenge. However, Rogue has shown for over five years that our community is resilient. Our immediate focus is on building three to four solid teams. This number aligns well with our current resources and allows us to provide more personalized attention for every athlete, fostering the development of competitive and successful teams.

What This Means for Our Athletes

This new chapter brings more opportunities and dedicated attention for every athlete who joins us on the mat. We’re pleased to announce our teams for the upcoming season: the Mini Buckaroos (Pre-K – 3rd grade – may possibly become two teams based on enrollment) Youth Wranglers (3rd-6th grade), and Senior Renegades (6th-12th grade). And the possibility of a Rogue Spirit Squad which would be a non-competitive cheer team for 2nd-8th grade, focused on building confidence, learning cheer skills and performing locally. For Rogue Szn6 the focus is on fostering a supportive environment where every athlete can grow, develop their skills, and deepen their love for cheerleading.

I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead for Rogue Cheer Athletics. I look forward to working together with all of you to strengthen our gym. Your commitment and belief in Rogue mean the world to me.

With heartfelt sincerity,
Becky Abbott
