Get ready to break it down. Rogue is launching a 18U Hip Hop competitive dance team! This isn’t just any crew—we’re calling ourselves the Outlaws! Competitions will span from November – May of 2026! Please see the details here :
Meet the Coach and Choreographer
Coach Nicole is a talented choreographer and the Dance Director at Rush Athletics. With a passion for cheer, dance, and gymnastics since age seven, she has extensive experience in sideline and all-star cheer, and spent three years dancing at the collegiate level, where she built her foundation in hip-hop and jazz. In 2018, she helped launch the Rush Athletics dance program. Since then, she has coached over 15 teams to impressive achievements, including 2 Worlds Titles, 5 straight years of High Point Champion, and 3 Best Choreography awards. She will be coming up every other Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. to coach our hip hop team, with the first practice kicking off on September 3rd.
Join the Rush Athletics Elite Hip Hop Team – Odyssey
As part of our exciting partnership with Rush Athletics, we are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a select group of exceptional Rogue athletes to join the Hip Hop team, Odyssey, under the expert guidance of Coach Nicole. In exchange for this collaboration, Coach Nicole will also have the opportunity to coach our own hip hop team at our gym.
A few standout athletes from our program will be chosen to represent the 18U Odyssey open hip hop theme team. Selected athletes will journey to Yreka every other Sunday, accompanied by Coach Becky.
Practices for the Rush Elite Hip Hop team will take place every other Sunday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We look forward to bringing a handful of our talented Rogue athletes to Yreka for these dynamic training sessions!
Odyssey will be attending a local competition hosted by Rush Athletics in Yreka on February 7th, one Jamz event that Rogue Outlaws has on their schedule plus the following two events:

Q: How do I join the Outlaw Hip Hop team at Rogue?
Ready to join the Hip Hop team? Individual tryouts will be scheduled between August 25th and September 2nd. You can try out in person or by video submission. For your tryout, please prepare a 30-second to 1-minute dance routine with hip hop elements. A cheer dance you’ve previously learned will work great!
Q: How do I join the Odyssey team at Rush Athletics?
Let Coach Becky know you’re interested and we can go from there!
Q: What is the cost to be on the Rogue Hip Hop Outlaws team?
A: The cost is $70/month from September through April ($50/mo for athletes already on a Rogue cheerleading team) There is a $150 uniform fee due on October 1st. Competition fees are TBD.
Q: What competitions will Outlaws be competing at?
A: The Outlaws will compete in the hip hop division at all the same competitions this season as our Senior Renegades team. There is a possibility of attending a competition in Reno, Nevada on January 17-18 for both the Outlaws and then those who are also on Rush Athletics Odyssey team.
Q: What is the cost to be on Rush’s Odyssey team?
A: Rush Athletics will only be charging Rogue/Rush athletes for competition registration costs and NOT tuition! The competitions you would attend with Rush on the Odyssey team will be in Reno, Nevada on January 17-18 and Lake Tahoe on April 10-11, as well as one other JAMZ competition that Rogue will already be attending.
Q: Will Rush and Rogue compete against each other?
A: No, Rush is competing in a 18U Open Theme hip hop division and Rogue is competing in the 18U Hip Hop division.
Q: Can anyone be on Rush’s Odyssey team or Rogue’s Outlaws team?
A: Not at this time. These teams are for athletes ages 11-18 or 11-16 with competitive cheer or dance experience. There may be some allowances for athletes as young as 9 being on either team but it will depend heavily on their dance ability and maturity. We do hope to eventually offer a youth hip hop team and a separate class for those who simply want to learn hip hop skills. For now, Rogue will just have one hip hop team, the Outlaws, and a select few from that team will also be chosen to join the Rush Odyssey team.
Q: What will the hip hop team’s name be?
A: Our team name will be the Rogue Outlaws, and we will be competing as a 16U NA Hip Hop dance team. The youngest athlete on our team will be 11 years old with possible allowance for athletes as young as 9.
Q: Where is Rush Athletics located?
A: Rush Athletics is in Yreka, California, which is about 20 minutes past Ashland, Oregon.
Q: What is the travel time to Yreka?
A: The travel time is approximately 45-60 minutes each way. Our Odyssey group will be leaving the gym around 3:00 p.m. and should be back home by 7:00 p.m. on Sundays. This is every OTHER Sunday September – Spring 2026.
Q: Where will the Rogue hip hop team practice?
A: The Rogue hip hop team will practice at our gym, with Coach Nicole from Rush Athletics coming up every other Wednesday 6:00-7:30. On the weeks that Nicole is not at Rogue the team will be led by a Rogue coach.
Q: What are the commitment requirements for the Rush Elite Hip Hop team?
A: Joining the Rush team means committing to practices held every other Sunday in Yreka. Coach Becky will be transporting the team, departing from Medford at 3:00 p.m. and returning at approximately 7ish p.m.
Q: Can an athlete be on both Odyssey and Outlaws?
A: YES! We encourage it!
